Day one dawned bright and clear. Mom and Aunt Marsha made a delicious french toast breakfast and we hopped in the boats. As soon as the lines hit the water it was game on! The walleye fishing was epic. Dad, Grandpa, and I jigged one point while Uncle Steve, Aunt Marsha, Mom, and Connor slip bobbered an adjacent point. Everyone caught numerous fish, but what made it even more spectacular was that everyone caught a fish over 24 inches! Marsha and Connor each caught 26.5 inchers, which were the biggest fish of the day. I topped out at 26 inches, but that destroyed my previous 22.5 inch personal best! Here is a pile of grip and grin photos:

One of the reasons that walleye fishing is so popular is that they are absolutely delicious. Typically on a walleye trip we have fish every night for dinner. Mom and Marsha vetoed that idea and planned delicious meals for each night. On the first night though, we invited some of the smaller walleye home for dinner. Mmm Mmm good.

Dad is quite professional at frying walley. They were delicious, and quickly gone.
Highlight of the Day:
The entire day was nothing short of awesome, but my favorite part was in the evening while casting Rapalas to shoreline. I caught two great smallmouth, the second being an 18 inch pig. It is my biggest smallmouth ever, and I was very excited! Dad also got in on the action and caught a nice smallie and Steve caught a beautiful walleye while fishing for bass. It was a great evening!

My 18 inch smallie. I was giving Mike Iaconelli fist pumps and whoopzing like a loon when this one hit the net!

Dad and a nice smallie. They sure are fun on lightweight gear.
